This server hosts Linux repositories for the Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS distributions. They are intended to facilitate installation and upgrade of packages not available in standard default repositories. End-users should thus be able to obtain, and keep up-to-date, an approved selection of software applications without the need for IT support intervention or for additional sudoer privilege.
You don't always need to perform a system-wide installation. Some applications are simply meant to be downloaded and extracted under your home directory. Others can be installed through sandbox utilities like Snap or Flatpak.
